EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order amends the Maidstone (Electoral Changes) Order 2025 (“the 2025 Order”), in order to correct errors in the drafting of the 2025 Order. This Order gives proper effect to recommendations made by Maidstone Borough Council (“the Council”) to the Local Government Boundary Commission for England for a related alteration to the boundary between the Maidstone Central county electoral division and Maidstone Rural West county electoral division.

The Commission has decided to invoke the free issue procedure in this instance given that that Order’s sole purpose is to amend errors in the 2025 Order. Accordingly, all known recipients of the 2025 Order will be provided with a copy of this Order, as required by paragraph 4.7.6 of the Statutory Instrument Practice (5th Edition (November 2017)).

A full impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no impact on the private, voluntary or public sectors is foreseen.
