EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order amends the Bovine Viral Diarrhoea (Wales) Order 2024 (S.I. 2024/753 (W. 105)) (“the 2024 Order”).

Article 2(2) amends the coming into force date of articles 35 to 41 of the 2024 Order from 1 July 2025 to 1 July 2026.

Article 2(3) replaces the word “supervision” with “direction” throughout the 2024 Order to clarify that a veterinary surgeon does not necessarily need to be physically present when a person is taking a sample.

Article 2(4) extends the pre-movement testing window, where an animal is to be moved off a holding, from 30 to 60 days.

The Welsh Ministers’ Code of Practice on the carrying out of Regulatory Impact Assessments was considered in relation to this Order. As a result, it was not considered necessary to carry out a regulatory impact assessment as to the likely costs and benefits of complying with this Order.
